Verizon - 9/12
September 11, 2001 was a day of grief and uncertainty. But what occurred on 9/12 and the months after was nothing short of heroic. Over 14,000 of Verizon employees ran towards the crisis and began the mission to reconnect New York. So on the 20th anniversary, Verizon wanted to honor those stories in one of the most personal ways we communicate today… texting.
9/12: The untold story of reconnecting New York – a one-day, real-time, immersive experience, exclusively for Verizon employees. With over 30 employees from 2001 interviewed, a timeline was established. Every text documenting a moment, an action, or a story delivered at the time they actually happened on 9/12.
Eleven personal stories are told through MMS native content such as immersive phone calls that reenact historical moments, 360º interactive maps of Downtown Manhattan, and AR before-and-after filters. It’s a nod to the basic tech of 2001, while featuring the cutting-edge mobile experiences of today. A story about the past—with a modern twist.
